Grants and awards

Travel grants

Important notification: Due to the replacement of the physical Congress in Frankfurt by a virtual edition, the travel grant will consist of free access to the Virtual Congress platform. As there is no travel involved, there will be no monetary grant applicable this year.

The call for travel grant applications is closed. The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) will decide, according to the scores of the abstracts, which abstract receives a travel grant. This will be announced to the submitting author together with their abstract allocation by e-mail before April 24, 2020.

Travel grants are specially intended to support young investigators; therefore applicants should be 36 years of age or younger. A number of travel grants have been reserved for abstract authors from countries with lower- and lower/middle-income economies. Travel grants are available only for abstracts submitted during the regular abstract submission.

Travel grant applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • You have applied for a junior membership with EHA before March 1.
  • Your junior membership fee has been paid before March 6.
  • You are the first, presenting and submitting author of a submitted abstract.
  • Note: Current winners of EHA research grants, CRTH & TRTH are not eligible to receive a travel grant.

Any questions regarding the criteria, the application or procedure can be directed to

EHA Educational Travel Grants

EHA awarded a new category of travel grants in 2019, called the Educational Travel Grants, which facilitate participation in the Annual Congress for hematologists, researchers and practitioners from lower and middle-income countries. We especially want to encourage individuals who demonstrate a high degree of motivation towards participating in the EHA Congress because of the anticipated benefits to their career or to hematology in their country. A total of 10 grants will be awarded, providing free registration for the virtual edition of the 25th EHA Congress starting June 11, 2020.

The call for applications is closed and applicants have been informed about the outcome of the review.

YoungEHA Best Abstract Award

One of the primary missions of EHA is to support young hematology clinicians and researchers. Therefore at EHA22 we launched the YoungEHA Best Abstract Awards. These will be awarded to the highest ranking abstracts in the following four categories: Clinicians or medical students training for a PhD degree, PhD research students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical hematology trainees. We are honored that these outstanding YoungEHA trainees are presenting during the EHA congress – they are the future of Hematology. Each award winner will receive € 500 and complimentary registration to the next congress of EHA.

Please note that this award does not require an application procedure. The selection is made by the Scientific Program Committee and Advisory Board based on the highest ranking abstracts.
