Benign disorders


This year at the 23rd EHA Congress, a lot of attention was paid to erythrocytes, iron and hepcidin. As an example, a study by Francesca Vinchi and colleagues revealed the dual role of iron in macrophage functional response. Antonella Nai highlighted the role of nuclear receptor co-activator 4 in mobilizing iron, Hal Drakesmith discussed new modes of hepcidin regulation and several contributors presented data on new hepcidin mimetics or other strategies to overcome iron overload and so much more.
