Increased knowledge of the biology of hematological diseases, as well as rapid technical advances in diagnostic patient care, will impact the way patients are diagnosed and classified, and will help in treatment decisions. For example, circulating tumor DNA may be used for MRD detection in lymphomas, MRD diagnostics in childhood ALL is being used for significant treatment reduction in a quarter of the children, and building large knowledge banks may provide the information to predict outcome for a specific patient.
