A novel, integrated prognostic index predicts outcome in ALL

By integrating genetic, clinical and response data, and by using continuous data, Professor Anthony Moorman (Newcastle University, UK) and colleagues developed and validated a novel prognostic index (PI) that can accurately predict outcome in pediatric ALL, outperforming current risk group stratification.

Validation of the PI across three cohorts of patients, in which different treatment protocols and MRD distributions were used, confirmed its robustness. “We demonstrated how using this numeric PI as a continuous variable can be used to design novel types of risk stratification algorithms in future clinical trials and studies.”
