Transfusion medicine

Transfusion medicine is a branch of hematology providing life-saving support, for example, to patients with hematological disorders. It encompasses blood donation, immunohematology and other laboratory testing, transfusion practices and much more. Pierre Fenaux in his talk covered the treatment with imetelstat that provides durable transfusion independence in heavily transfused non-del (SQ) lower risk MDS relapsed/refractory to erythropoiesis stimulating agents.
