CART27 Sustainability

We strive to integrate eco-friendly practices across all aspects of the event, from energy-efficient venue operations to waste reduction and recycling programs. Our goal is to minimise the environmental impact of the conference while promoting sustainable development and responsible resource management. This commitment extends to every detail of the event, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on both the environment and the local community.

Lisbon

Lisbon is working to engage with modern sustainable approaches to create a more inclusive, open, innovative, and environmentally respectful city.

Venue

The Lisbon Congress Center (CCL) is committed to sustainability and has implemented multiple green initiatives:

  • Recycling: recycles paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, electrical wiring/metal, batteries, lamps, and ink cartridges. All the spare material from events is recycled or reused.
  • Waste: all waste products are conveyed to a sorting unit, which is responsible for selection, recovery, and recycling, providing the best technical environmental solution
  • Energy: invested in reducing the quantities of non-renewable energy from year to year, the CCL has a Solar Panel Station generating 39% independence from the grid in terms of energy consumption.
  • Water: part in EPAL’s campaign to raise awareness of tap water sustainability, which invited public and private entities to accept the challenge of exclusively consuming water from the public water supply network in their premises, by providing EPAL water jugs for their common areas (Meeting Rooms, Coffee Break Areas and Canteens).
  • Transportation: actively promote the usage of train, metro, and bus among organizers and participants.
  • Catering: committed to offering healthy, nutritious, and light meals using local, fresh, seasonal products. Food product donation from food not consumed at the event.
  • Associations: promote and sponsor actions that aim to develop the activities of Portuguese companies, in the associative, technical, economic and commercial domains, pursuing scientific, cultural, social solidarity and environmental defense purposes.
