Criteria
Travel grant applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria. The applicant must:
- Hold a medical degree or equivalent qualification
- Have at least 1–2 years of experience in hematology or a related field
- Be an early- or mid-career clinical professional
- Have area of interest in SCD and Thalassemia clinical management
- Be an EHA member or have applied by May 26, 2026
- Have paid their membership fee by June 26, 2026
- Be able to attend the preceptorship in person in Athens, Greece, from November 16-18, 2026
These grants are open to any EHA member from regions highly affected by sickle cell disease (SCD) and beta‑thalassemia.
The travel grant includes complimentary registration arranged by EHA for on-site attendance only, 3 nights’ accommodation in the hotel venue, and a €1,000 compensation for travel arrangements (reimbursed after the meeting).
Application process
The applications will be reviewed by the preceptorship meeting chairs. Only applications that fit the eligibility criteria will be considered.
A list of deadlines and important dates can be found below:
- May 26, 2025: Travel grant application opens
- June 26, 2025: Travel grant application deadline
- July 15, 2025: EHA will notify grant recipients
- August 17, 2025: Travel grant recipients confirmation deadline
