EHA is joining forces with the Societatea Românã de Hematologie (SRH) and Scientific and Practical Society of Hematologists and Transfusiologists from the Republic of Moldova (SHTRM) to organize the EHA-SRH-SHRTM Balkan Hematology Tutorial.

At EHA we highly value international collaboration, and we aim to foster long-term relations with our national society partners. EHA is teaming up with the Societatea Românã de Hematologie (SRH) and Scientific and Practical Society of Hematologists and Transfusiologists from the Republic of Moldova (SHTRM) to organize this Tutorial, but also invited the partner national societies of the Balkan region to provide local speakers for the program.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format with the majority of the faculty and participants attending in-person in Bucharest, Romania. The meeting will be livestreamed into the virtual platform.

Program

The EHA-SRH-SHRTM Balkan Hematology Tutorial two-day program aims to provide a unique opportunity for participants to test their knowledge in various areas of acute leukemias. The program will cover the following topics:

  • Acute myeloid leukemia: Diagnostic work-up, prognostic factors and risk classification

  • FLT3 mutated acute myeloid leukemia: Treatment algorithm and practical tips
  • Approach to relapsed/refractory AML

  • Current state of art in APL management

  • B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Aiming for the best response in the era of novel therapies

  • Ph positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Chemo-free treatment and the role of SCT in CR1

  • Overview of diagnosis and management of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

  • Mixed phenotype acute leukemia: Diagnostic tools and treatment approach

The program included presentations and self-assessment cases from international speakers, in addition to case presentations by speakers from the Balkan region followed by time for discussion.

Physicians, clinicians, basic researchers, biologists, trainees, medical students from the Balkan region.

The Tutorial has various registration possibilities:

  • Hybrid attendance for Romanians & Moldovans is free of charge. Registration is closed.
  • Virtual attendance is free of charge for everyone. Registration is closed.
  • Hybrid attendance for non-Romanians & non-Moldovans is 50 euro. Registration is closed.

Attendance grants

Societatea Românã de Hematologie (SRH) is generously offering grants for participants to attend the meeting in-person in Bucharest.

The deadline for grant applications passed on February 24, 2023 (23:59 CET).

To be eligible to receive an attendance grants, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants should be 36 years or younger
  • Applicants should be from the Balkan region
  • Applicants should complete the form (see below) and provide a short movitation

Grant recipients will receive travel and accommodation.
