Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in the heart of The Hague (Netherlands) is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy.

Hematology is constantly changing and evolving. We help our members stay up to date by delivering a structured educational program, created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels.

EHA Grants Manager

As EHA Grants Manager, you will be running the EHA’s Research Grants portfolio. You will connect and collaborate with grantees, reviewers and the Fellowships & Grants Committee to ensure transparent processes and appropriate grants management.

Reviewing grants applications, supporting applicants in the process, and supporting the Fellowships & Grants committee in the review and selection of winners are part of your tasks. Moreover, your input and insights will be vital for the development of the portfolio.

You will be working with Finance and Legal to ensure the funding agreements are in place and will administer and monitor the grants according to the disbursement schedule set.

You will report to the Head of Research and Mentoring.

Your responsibilities:

  • Grant Portfolio:
    • Manage EHA Grants portfolio on an operational level
      The portfolio and derivative activities include: EHA Junior, Advanced, Physician scientist, Topic in Focus grants; Bilateral collaborative grants; Kick-off grants; research mobility grants;
  • Contracting related to the awarded grants
  • Follow-up of career advancements of EHA grantees and mentoring programs trainees
  • Promotion and dissemination activities of EHA Grants, including at EHA Congress and other events
  • Responsible for the whole EHA Grants cycles and supports the development of new Grants initiatives in collaboration with the Research Team, the F&G Committee and the EHA Board
  • Project Management
    • Oversee all the relevant steps of the Grants cycle by using Fluxx Grants Management Software (being familiar with Fluxx is a huge advantage). Launch the calls, troubleshooting relevant issues raised by stakeholders, extract data, create overviews, etc.
    • Help identifying structural roadblocks/bottlenecks, analyzing the issue and escalating if required
    • Define standards, processes, templates for project management activities.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Promote grants at various events (National Society events, annual EHA Congress, educational/scientific sessions, Research networking events, etc.)
    • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for EHA Grants dissemination and promotion
    • Act as the interface between the office and external stakeholders on EHA Grants-related activities based on strategic plans
    • Participate in internal and external meeting when relevant
    • Help overseeing logistics with all internal stakeholders
  • Support for Mentoring Programs
    • As part of the Research Team, the EHA Grants Manager supports activities of the EHA Mentoring Programs where applicable.

Your profile:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field
  • Passionate about career development for researchers
  • Preferably 5 years’ experience with grants management systems
  • Grants management experience (preferably an experienced user of Fluxx Grants Software, huge advantage)
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English (in writing and oral)
  • Result-oriented, decisive and tactful
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Living in the Netherlands (for non-European nationals, being in possession of a valid work permit is required)
  • Willingness to travel within Europe for 4-8 days onsite events approx. 3 times a year
