Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in the heart of The Hague (Netherlands) is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy.
Hematology is constantly changing and evolving. We help our members stay up to date by delivering a structured educational program, created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels.

Head of Education
This is a leadership role, where you can play a key role in the critical strategic goal for education for EHA. You will lead a dynamic, creative, and multiskilled team that consists of Project Managers, Scientific Specialists, Medical Writers, and Instructional Designers. They are all committed to delivering innovative and up-to-date education in hematology to hematologists across Europe and overseas.

You are passionate about medical education and want to produce and deliver exciting and breakthrough educational programs in hematology. You exhibit exceptional managerial skills that foster, promote, and implement servant leadership philosophies and values.
Your responsibilities:
- Drive the EHA Education Strategy, based on the overall EHA strategy:
- Up-to-date clinical and science-driven initiatives within the education field
- Impactful educational materials (on/off-line) aimed at improving the scientific and clinical hematological footprint
- Further development and implementation of novel learning modalities
- Being familiar with proven educational principles
- Actively participate in projects, events, and activities from other EHA departments, demonstrating the ability to be a good colleague and team builder
- Operational accountability of performance of skilled team members (7 – 10 FTE)
- Effective Management of people (goal setting, growth development, appraisals)
- Guidance, mentoring and coaching on a day-to-day basis
- Create a work environment that optimizes staff performance and supports open communication, thus fostering employee engagement and satisfaction
- Networking with other partners/organisations offering educational activities
- Communication with different stakeholders including industry partners
- Embrace all aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure a corporate culture
- Business development, in a sense of constantly evaluating and improving programs
- Development and execution of the EHA educational programs (European Hematology Curriculum, European Hematology Exam, Master Class, Campus, Social Media Learning, Certification, Lighting the Flame, and other exciting activities)
- Development of the Education work plan, and novel EHA educational activities
- Ability to recognize where change is needed, to embrace and create enthusiasm to work effectively with others to develop creative, innovative, and focused solutions
- Manage Education budget
- Define the annual Educational investment, collaboration, and input into sponsors’ plan
- Oversee the Education budget and management of expenditure to prioritize resources based on the strategic objectives
- Organizational Support to ensure open communication and cooperation within EHA
- Advise and support the EHA Executive Board and EHA Board on strategic decisions on EHA Education Strategic imperatives
- Facilitate and support the Education Committee, Curriculum Committee and Exam Committee, among others
- Identify new education capabilities, including outlining core education objectives and mapping format competencies to tactics
- Advise and support structural changes within the EHA Education team and cross-unit collaboration
- Synergize educational activities with other EHA activities (e.g. Research, Communication, Community)
Your profile:
- Medical knowledge, preferably with a medical university degree (or scientific background and experience in a medical-related field)
- Specific expertise in medical education, incl. recent developments, to ensure that the education EHA produces is founded on strong learning principles (evidence-based education)
- 7-10 years of management experience in medicine, pharma, higher education or healthcare in a similar function either on the corporate, agency, IGO, NGO, or NPO side
- Ability to fluently communicate in English (in writing and oral)
- Stakeholder management at a senior level; being able to challenge the thinking of senior experts
- Ability to develop and coordinate a diverse team with various priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, collaborate and build relationships with all stakeholders
- Living in the Netherlands (if not, please indicate in your cover letter how you would approach moving to the Netherlands)
- Willingness to travel outside the Netherlands (mostly within Europe)

- The salary range is between €4,800 - €6,800 gross per month, based on full-time employment
