Manager Organizational Support (40 hrs)
The European Hematology Association (EHA) promotes excellence in patient care, research and education in hematology. EHA envisions a world without blood disorders by connecting hematologists worldwide. The activities undertaken serve clinicians and scientists in their efforts to improve hematology care for patients.
Each year, EHA organizes a congress in a major European city attended by approximately 12,000 hematologists. In addition, EHA develops and organizes education and training programs, publishes scientific journals, advocates for hematology and hematologistst in the European arena and offers a career development program. EHA is governed by a Board and supported in its activities by various committees from around the world and the Executive Office located in The Hague.
With 30 (result)driven and enthusiastic staff members from over 15 nationalities, the organization is growing rapidly. Because of this growth, which is expected to continue, the organization is working towards a new structure with new management roles. The Manager Organizational Support is a new role within the EHA organization.
Manager Organizational Support (40 hrs)
The Manager Organizational Support is responsible for the departments of administration, finance, IT and HRM. You will lead and coach your team, consisting of 6 employees and will work towards a new and productive team that takes joint responsibility for the support of the staff members specializing on primary processes, such as education, research and advocacy. You will contribute to a service-oriented organization, that is characterized by efficient work processes and clear task and accountability lines.
In addition, you will develop a P&C cycle and deliver good management information to the management team. Your responsibilities also include preparing and implementing annual plans and managing the department budget. Optimizing connections between departments and monitoring progress of various projects and plans within your team is an important part of your job.
You report to the Executive Director, are an active member of the management team and contribute to the implementation of the recently determined, ambitious strategic course.
You have a strong business and analytical insight, enjoy working on financial and operational management issues and have general and up to date knowledge of finance, administration, HR and IT. You also have a degree in management or business operations and an academic work- and thinking level. You have managerial experience in healthcare, preferably in a non-profit setting, excel in operational management and you have a natural way of switching between an operational and strategic level.
Result-oriented, decisive and tactful are words to describe you. The mission of the organization is always top of mind and you act accordingly. You are able to set priorities and are experienced in coordinating, structuring and managing a wide variety of activities. You identify, investigate and solve problems and you are competent and innovative when it comes to process optimization.
Furthermore, you feel comfortable in a small, but relatively complex organization in which flexibility, collective responsibility and a hands-on mentality are essential. Preferably, you have worked with clinicians and scientists in an intercultural environment and therefore understand the importance of facilitating professionals and creating bridges between business operations and the primary processes of EHA. You see opportunities and act proactively.
You are able to assist colleagues in a change process. You are a team-player and are alert to create commitment and involvement. Clarity and open communication are values of paramount importance to you. Your communication skills in English are excellent. You are passionate and driven to work on the ambitions of EHA.

This is a full-time position, initially for 1 year with the prospect of permanent employment. EHA is situated in the beautiful center of The Hague near The Hague Central Station, is easily accessible by public transportation and has parking space available.
