Medical Writer

The European Hematology Association (EHA) is a non-profit organization that supports and connects hematologists worldwide. EHA promotes excellence in patient care, research, and education in hematology towards a cure for all blood disorders. Our programs and services serve medical professionals, researchers, and scientists. We provide programs to enhance the professional development of hematologists. We support and mentor career development and research, harmonize hematology education, and advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels. Based in the Netherlands, EHA is a foundation led and supported in its activities by a Board of distinguished peers, an international Executive Office, and specialized committees.

We are looking for a:

Medical Writer (36-40 hours)

EHA is looking for a Medical Writer who will be part of the Education team and work collaboratively with EHA experts, our Medical and Scientific Lead, and our Instructional Design Specialist to produce high-quality educational material. This material could be an online course, a short post for social media, or a text to support an online activity.


The EHA Education team includes nine members coming from 8 countries, and focuses on creating high-quality, objective, and independent education for hematologists. The EHA Education team has recently started producing in-house courses, hence our need for a medical writer. A writer with either knowledge or interest in instructional design is preferred.

Your responsibilities:

  • Write scientific/medical content for online courses, social media, podcasts, promotions, articles, PowerPoint presentations, and more,

  • Write clearly in grammatically correct English,
  • Read, interpret, and summarize scientific papers and scientific data,
  • Work collaboratively with our project managers, medical writers, scientific and medical lead and instructional designers,
  • Adhere to timelines set by project managers and team leads, for the writing of course or activity material,
  • Interact with hematology experts to ensure scientific accuracy of course material,
  • Actively participate to team meetings and contribute to the development of new ideas for Education,
  • Attend the EHA congress and some meetings to gather information, write summaries of talks and assist in the recording of interviews and podcasts
  • Report to the team leader, and to the Head of Education,
  • Agree to spend at least 60% of your working hours at the EHA office.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree +6 years, Master's Degree +3 years, Doctoral Degree + relevant medical writing experience, especially writing in one or more area of hematology,
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team on several varied projects simultaneously, with a commitment to timelines and minimal errors,
  • Skills in writing clear, grammatically correct, technical, and creative medical/scientific text in different styles and for different formats, such as e-learning modules, webinars, podcasts, PowerPoint presentations, texts for social media, assessment questions, promotional materials, etc.,
  • Highly skilled at interpreting scientific papers and complex scientific data in an engaging way,
  • Committed to accuracy in all materials produced, and able to incorporate revisions based on input from the cross-functional team, and external contributors,
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaborate and coordinate efficiently with other team members involved in projects, and with external education partners,
  • Focused on quality control to safeguard the quality of written material,
  • Results oriented and flexible attitude,
  • Experience in working with an instructional designer.
