The European Hematology Association (EHA) is a non-profit organization located in The Hague which serves medical professionals, researchers, and scientists with an active interest in hematology. We are proud to be the largest European-based organization connecting hematologists worldwide to support career development and research, harmonize hematology education, and advocate for hematologists and hematology. EHA is governed by the EHA Board and supported in its activities by various committees. EHA Project Coordinator Mentoring Programs (32-40 hours)

Job description

EHA aims to foster science and spread knowledge in basic, translational and clinical research in hematology in Europe. To accelerate the careers of promising scientists, EHA provides funding and mentoring opportunities as part of its Talent Accelerator portfolio.

As Project Coordinator of EHA’s Mentoring Programs, you will be working on the Clinical Research Training in Hematology (CRTH) program for clinical researchers and the Translational Research Training in Hematology (TRTH) for translational researchers.  More programs are in in development. In addition, you will assist in managing EHA’s grants program.

You will be part of the Research & Mentoring Unit and operate in the Talent Accelerator team, the team that oversees EHA’s fellowships, grants and mentoring programs. You will maintain oversight of the development of all EHA mentoring programs, in collaboration with the Project Coordinator of the Talent Accelerator Programs. You will support the course leadership in developing the course program and reviewing and selecting scholars. You will manage the review and selection processes. You will act as the primary contact for the applicants and once selected, the scholars. On site, you will ensure the workshops run smoothly, ensure that presentations are shown, materials are available and co-create an atmosphere conducive for mentoring and trust. Your experience and expertise allow you to not only grow the existing programs but also to develop new ones.

You will assist in the day-to-day management of grants and act as backup for the management of grants when needed. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating the annual submissions of past recipients of EHA’s funding and mentoring awards into ResearchFish, the impact measurement platform used for EHA’s Talent Accelerator Programs.  

You will work with the committees that are responsible for these programs. In your daily activity you will be communicating with medical professionals, office staff and service providers, you will coordinate with the Project Coordinator of the Talent Accelerator Programs and will report to the Manager of Research and Mentoring.

Your Profile

You have a Master’s degree (or higher) level of education in (biomedical) sciences, health education or healthcare. You have experience in working with researchers in the biomedical field. You have a passion for career development for researchers in hematology and are curious about developments in research. You have the capacity to improve processes and find creative solutions.

Result-oriented, decisive, patient and tactful are words to describe you. You act with the organization’s mission and goals at the forefront of your mind. You have strong organizational skills, are detail oriented without losing the overview and main objectives, and have a natural way of switching between an operational and strategic level.

You are an open and enthusiastic team player who motivates and encourages people to get the best out of themselves. Clarity and open communication are values of paramount importance to you. Your communication skills in English are excellent and near-native. You feel comfortable in a small, but relatively complex, organization in which flexibility, collective responsibility and hands-on mentality are essential. You enjoy international travel.

The salary range is between €3,500- €5000 gross per month, based on full-time employment.
