Specialized Working Group on Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSC)

Overview

The MSC SWG’s mission is to advance progress in hematology by translating mechanistic insight into therapeutic realities that will become part of regular regenerative medicine.

Our focus is on:

  • Better understanding mechanisms through which MSCs could modulate immune responses
  • Identifying individual cells belonging to the innate and adaptive immune responses that interact with MSCs
  • Working to define the molecular pathways through which MSC induce immune suppression
  • Understanding the role of MSCs as sensors of inflammation and controlling inflammation and tissue homeostasis
  • Understanding the development and implementation of clinical trials in areas such as autoimmune disorders and organ and stem cell transplantation
