Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSC)
The focus of the current MSC Specialized Working Group is to better understand mechanisms through which MSCs could modulate immune responses, identify individual cells belonging to the innate and adaptive immune responses that interact with MSCs and define the molecular pathways through which MSC induce immune suppression.
In addition to understanding the role of MSC as sensors of inflammation and controlling inflammation and tissue homeostasis, the SWG will also focus on the development and implementation of clinical trials in areas including autoimmune disorders and organ and stem cell transplantation. The overall mission of the SWG is to translate mechanistic insight into therapeutic realities that will become part of regular regenerative medicine.
