Diagnosis in hematological diseases: morphology and flow cytometry
This SWG is active in disseminating knowledge on advances in the diagnosis and follow-up by morphology and multiparameter flow-cytometry of malignant and non-malignant hematological diseases. These include morphology, digital morphology, and flow-cytometry (mass, imaging, and spectral flow cytometry included).
In our view, the aim of this SWG is to represent a possibility of exchange of knowledge, educational content, and a moment of debate about diagnostics. We hope to always present an up-to-date and “futuristic” view of the topics we deal with, hoping to translate these into common practice.
In the new vision of the European Society of hematology, the SWG has now a structure constituted by a Chairman, a Co-chairman, and a board of at least 5 members. The appointment is for 3 years, and renewable for another 3 years. Membership is free of charge and all EHA members that are interested in contributing to our activities are welcome.
The SWG works in close cooperation with European LeukemiaNet (ELN) WP10 and ELN-DAVID (previously ELN Measurable Residual Disease working party). Furthermore, we actively collaborate with ESCCA (European Society for Clinical Cell Analysis) to develop common educational programs and possible interactions. This broadened field will allow the SWG to provide more teaching and continuing education opportunities.
Furthermore, this SWG is mostly involved in educational activities in the form of participation in conferences and courses, organizing the annual SWG session at the EHA congress, and is open to proposals of the members for organizing independent workshops and training courses.
