Specialized Working Group on Diagnosis in Hematological Diseases: Morphology and Flow Cytometry

Overview

This SWG disseminates knowledge of malignant and non-malignant hematologic diseases, with a specific focus on:

  • Advances in diagnosis
  • Follow-up by morphology and multiparameter flow-cytometry

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Morphology
  • Digital morphology
  • Flow-cytometry (including mass, imaging, and spectral flow cytometry)

Our aim is to enable the exchange of knowledge and educational content and provide an opportunity to discuss diagnostics. We engage with a ‘futuristic’ view of the topics we deal with and aim to translate these into common practice.

SWG composition

We consist of a Chair, a Co-chair, and a board of at least five members. The appointment term is three years, and renewable for one additional term of three years. Membership is free of charge and all EHA members that are interested in contributing to our activities are welcome.

SWG partnerships

The SWG works closely with European LeukemiaNet (ELN) WP10 and ELN-DAVID (previously ELN Measurable Residual Disease working party). We also collaborate with ESCCA (European Society for Clinical Cell Analysis) to develop common educational programs and identify other opportunities for collaboration. These collaborations provide us with more teaching and continuing education opportunities.

We are primarily involved in educational activities such as conferences and courses, as well as organizing the annual SWG session at the EHA Congress.

We welcome proposals from members who wish to organize independent workshops and training courses.
