The SWG Committee is the coordinating body of EHA’s Specialized Working Groups.

It aims to strengthen relations and collaborations between:

  • Individual SWGs
  • SWGs and EHA

Its members are selected within the SWGs and by the SWG Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the SWGs at the EHA leadership level.
  • Bridge communication between the SWGs and the EHA Board.
  • Collect SWGs’ proposals on established and new activities.
  • Approve SWGs’ proposals according to the pre-allocated budget (e.g. SWG meetings).
  • Approve new SWGs and renew existing SWGs (and subgroups, when necessary).
  • Develop and implement new projects based on Board recommendations.

Lobbying

The SWG Committee lobbies:

  • For SWG-initiated research projects
  • For the involvement of SWG members in EHA’s educational activities
  • On European affairs—e.g. on coordinated taskforces, networks/research programs or grants, and the revision or implementation of regulations

Composition

We’re comprised of the following:

  • A Chair (EHA Board member)
  • A Vice-Chair—an SWG member with at least two years’ experience as an SWG Chair/Co-Chair
  • Up to nine members selected from SWGs via an open call for interest

This open call for interest ensures a balanced representation of the main areas of hematology—e.g. malignant vs non-malignant, basic/translational vs clinical.

Rotation

The Chair and Vice-Chair serve for three years.

Members serve for three years with the possibility of one reappointment.

Meetings

In a typical year, our members take part in:

  • Two in-person meetings
  • Regular conference calls
