The EHA-ASH TRTH Joint Oversight Committee’s role is to develop translational researchers through the Translational Research Training in Hematology (TRTH) program. We do this in partnership with the American Society of Hematology (ASH).
Our priorities are to:
- Uphold the quality of the TRTH program
- Select incredible talent to participate in it
- Provide overall guidance to the faculty
The TRTH Joint Oversight Committee serves as an advisory committee to the EHA Research Committee and works closely with the EHA Office and other EHA committees.
Responsibilities
We review applications for eligibility and select participants with the other course directors. In doing so, we:
- Are transparent regarding relationships with applicants, their mentors, their institutes, collaborators, and competitors
- Develop and follow guidance given for review
- Responding to requests for review in a timely manner
Our members also:
- Participate in virtual meetings for selection and review of applications
- Assist in the development of the TRTH program and curriculum
- Participate in calls with faculty in preparation of the workshop and meetings
- Serve as core faculty members in the TRTH program
- Attend the TRTH workshop and the final meeting at the annual EHA and ASH Congress
- Serve as references for the faculty before, during, and after the course for content, format, and learning objectives
- Encourage interaction, mentoring, and networking between faculty and participants
- Recommend appointments for vacating course directors and faculty following the workshop
- Advise and mentor participants on their projects/careers during the program year
Composition
We’re comprised of the following:
- The EHA Co-Director
- The ASH Co-director
- The EHA Incoming Co-director
- The ASH Incoming Co-Director
- An EHA Executive Committee Member (EHA Board member)
- An ASH Executive Committee Member
Composing the faculty of each TRTH edition is the responsibility of the TRTH directors.
Rotation
Course Directors serve for two years.
Executive Committee members serve for one year.
Meetings
In a typical year, our members take part in:
- Three in-person meetings—during the spring course, the EHA Congress, and the ASH Annual Meeting
- Regular conference calls
