Policy on life events

EHA has a policy on life events and eligibility. If you’re applying for one of our opportunities and the policy applies to your circumstances, you can ask us to extend the period of eligibility.

Pregnancy and children

For each child/pregnancy:

  • A mother can add 18 months to the time since PhD graduation
  • A father can add three months to the time since PhD graduation

Other life events

We can also extend the eligibility period due to other life events. This might be:

  • Military service
  • Disease
  • Lab closure
  • Another type of life event

In all cases, you’ll need to provide a justification.
