The mission of the European Board for Accreditation in Hematology (EBAH) is to ensure the provision of the highest standard of patient and public health care within Europe. We achieve this by stimulating and supporting harmonized, high-quality Continuing Medical Education (CME) in hematology— for both individuals and organizations.  

We aim to be the primary European reference accreditation board for unbiased and transparent CME in hematology. 

Our responsibilities

  • Carry out peer-reviews based on pre-established quality standards. 
  • Continuously assess and improve guidelines for accreditation. 
  • Foster high-quality, independent Continuing Medical Education (CME) in the field of hematology. 

Composition

We’re comprised of the following: 

  • A Chair 
  • Four positions representing clinical hematology (malignancies), clinical hematology (benign and laboratory diagnosis), appointed by EHA 
  • One position for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, appointed by EBMT 
  • One position for transfusion medicine, appointed by ISBT 
  • One position for thrombosis and hemostasis, appointed by ISTH 
  • One position for the Education Committee of the EHA, appointed by EHA 
  • One position for a specialized hematology professional, appointed by the EBMT Nurses Group 

Rotation

The Chair serves for two years, with the possibility of one renewal. 

Members serve for three years, with the possibility of one renewal

In a typical year, our members take part in: 

  • Two physical meetings 
  • Regular conference calls
