Nomination Committee

Overview

The Nomination Committee (NC) is responsible for ensuring the quality and compositional balance of the EHA Board, in terms of:

• Scientific and educational background
• Competence
• Field of interest
• Geography
• Gender

In addition, we’re responsible for the nomination and ballot of EHA’s Education and Mentoring Awards.

The NC serves as an advisory body to the EHA Board and provides solicited and unsolicited advice on all matters concerning:

• The nomination and ballot of Board members
• EHA’s Education and Mentoring Awards

Responsibilities

The NC is responsible for drawing up regulations regarding the nomination and ballot procedure for the appointment of EHA Board members.

These regulations follow EHA’s statutes, which outline the tasks and responsibilities of the NC, the EHA Board, and the Executive Board in this process.

When a vacancy in the EHA Board arises, the NC will:

• Inform the members
• Solicit the names of potential candidates from the membership
• Identify potential candidates in addition to those proposed by members
• Select candidates and compose the ballot list, with final approval from the EHA Board
• Circulate the ballot list to all members for electronic voting
• Make decisions in the event of a tied vote

The Chair of the NC will present the results of the vote at the Business Meeting.

In addition to the above, the NC executes the nomination and ballot procedure for EHA’s Education and Mentoring Award, as approved by the EHA Board.

Composition

We’re comprised of the following:

• A Chair (non-Board member)
• A Vice-Chair (non-Board member)
• Four members (who are familiar with EHA)

Rotation

All members serve for three years with the possibility of one reappointment.

Meetings

In a typical year, our members take part in: 

• Two in-person meetings
• Regular virtual meetings
• One meeting with the EHA Board
