EHA Statement on the Erasmus MC Attack
EHA is deeply saddened and appalled by the news of the twin shootings in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. We condemn these senseless acts of violence in the strongest possible terms. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this unimaginably difficult time.
Given our strong ties with the Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC), whose excellence in research and clinical practice has contributed many active leaders to EHA, our thoughts are especially with those learning and working at the Erasmus MC. Hospitals and training institutes are spaces for healing, learning, and progress in our society. They represent the best of humanity's collective efforts to alleviate suffering, be compassionate, and advance knowledge. Such acts of violence not only endanger lives but also undermine the fundamental principles of kindness and education that our society holds dear.
EHA stands in solidarity with the Erasmus MC against such violence and hopes for a society where such tragic events become a rarity. In times such as these, we must support one another and stand firm in our commitment to safe treatment environments.
