EHA undersigns Manifesto on Treatment Optimization
EHA has given its formal endorsement to the “Manifesto for a new approach for better medicine in Europe: Establishing Treatment Optimization as part of personalized medicine development”. The manifesto was drafted by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and has received support from 19 scientific organizations and 11 Members of the European Parliament.
Purpose of the manifesto is to start a conversation with all relevant stakeholders about the need to reform the current clinical research landscape, from regulatory approval-centered to truly patient-centered. EHA will continue to be involved, supporting calls for stronger emphasis on comparative effectiveness studies and long-term safety monitoring, while also drawing attention to the need for optimizing diagnostics as an essential precondition for optimizing treatments.
