Dr Eleftheria Kampour

Dr. Eleftheria Kampouri (MD) is an infectious diseases physician-scientist at Lausanne University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.

She completed her internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at Lausanne University Hospital. Following this, she obtained a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and joined Prof Joshua A. Hill’s group at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, USA, to pursue a post-doctoral fellowship. There, she conducted clinical and translational research in the field of viral infections in patients receiving cellular immunotherapies, including CAR-T-cell therapies, and hematopoietic cell transplantation.

Currently, she serves as an infectious diseases consultant and Privat Docent at Lausanne University Hospital. There she works closely with oncological and hematological care teams to diagnose, treat, and prevent infections in patients with weakened immune systems.

She studies the epidemiology of infections, with a special focus on viral infections. As part of this work, she looks at human herpesvirus-6 and cytomegalovirus in onco-hematological patients, including patients receiving transplant and CAR-T-cell therapies.

Her research is highly collaborative and aims to deepen our understanding of infection risk to optimize prevention and management strategies, striving towards more personalized, patient-centered care.
