EuNet-INNOCHRON COST Action meeting
The SWG held a session during the final EuNet-INNOCHRON COST Action meeting. This took place in Chania, Crete, Greece, from April 4-6, 2024.

EHA Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Course 2024
This course took place in Sorrento, Italy, from April 10–13, 2024. On April 11, Dr Dufour delivered a talk on neutropenias.
EHA2024 Congress
The EHA2024 Congress took place in Madrid, Spain, from June 13–16, 2024.
During the event, the SWG held an oral session on granulocytes and congenital bone marrow failure syndrome (CBMFS). This session was chaired by Prof Papadaki and included a talk by Dr. Dufour on ‘New entities in Neutropenia.’
SWG members also participated in a guidelines session on ‘Guidelines on the treatment of children and adults with chronic neutropenias.’ The chair was Prof Helen Papadaki, and the speakers included Francesca Fioredda and Michalis Spanoudakis (both SWG members).
ASH Annual Meeting 2024
The ASH Annual Meeting 2024 took place from December 7–10, 2024, in San Diego, USA.
The SWG held a session on granulocytes and constitutional bone marrow failures. This was chaired by Dr Dufour.
In addition, the following posters were displayed:
- ‘Unsupervised Analysis Applied to a Cohort of Likely Acquired Neutropenia: Is It a Unique Entity?’ by Dr Fioredda
- ‘Malignant Transformation in relationship to clonal hematopoiesis in CIn’ by Prof Papadaki

Long-lasting, late-onset, and chronic idiopathic neutropenia project
Our project to use whole exome sequencing to unravel the potential genetic background/landscape of chronic idiopathic neutropenia received an SWG Grant.

Gaucher disease guidelines
These guidelines are a work in progress by Dr Colm Bradley.
EHA Innovation Grant application
The SWG submitted a proposal on granulocytes and CBMFS. However, funding was not awarded.
Actions during 2025
During the next year, SWG members will be working on the following proposals:
- New COST action—Prof Papadaki
- Neutropenia preceptorship—Prof Papadaki
- Gaucher disease preceptorship—Dr Bradley
In addition, an EHA Innovation Grant has been awarded to Helen Papadaki (principal investigator) for the following project: ‘Mutational spectrum and Cardiovascular Disease risk profiling in the context of Age Related Clonal Hematopoiesis and Clonal Cytopenias of Undetermined Significance, CarD-Clone.’
The co-principal investigators are Bruno António Cardoso and Luca Malcovati.
