The Fellowships & Grants Committee is responsible for assigning EHA funding to talented researchers.

We are looking for four new Fellowships & Grants Committee members who meet the following criteria:

  • Hematology researchers (fundamental/basic or translational research) specializing in any of the following: HSPC biology, immunotherapy, non-malignant hematology, malignant hematology with special focus on B- or T- cell leukemia, lymphoma, and/or myeloma.
  • Established group leader.
  • Successful in securing research funding.
  • Enthusiastic about supporting hematology research in Europe.
  • Mentoring experience (demonstrable track record as mentor).

Eligible hematology researchers from countries not currently represented on the Committee are particularly encouraged to apply.

Workload

The majority of the workload for the Committee is centered around the review and selection of grant winners as well as the review of progress reports.

 An approximate timeline of commitments for the selection of EHA grant application winners is as follows:  

  • September-October: Kick-Off Grant and Bilateral Collaborative Grant application review.
  • November: 3-hour video conference call to select Kick-Off Grant winners.
  • November: 3-hour video conference call to shortlist Bilateral Collaborative Grant applications for external review.
  • November-January: Research Grant application preliminary review.
  • January: 3-hour video conference call to shortlist Research Grant applications for external review.
  • End of January: Evaluation of external review feedback for Bilateral Collaborative Grant applications .
  • February: 3-hour video conference call to shortlist Bilateral Collaborative Grant candidates for interviews.
  • February-March: Innovation Grant application review.
  • Mid-April: Evaluation of external review feedback for Research Grant applications.
  • April: 3-hour video conference call to shortlist Research Grant candidates for interviews.
  • April: 3-hour video conference call to select Innovation Grant winners.
  • Mid-May: 3-day, in-person attendance of the interview meeting at the EHA office in The Hague, Netherlands.

Reviewing grantee reports

On average, committee members review one final report per month.

Appointment

Appointment is for a period of 3 years with the possibility of 1 reappointment.
