Eligibility guidelines for our Mentorship Program  

With 2025 closed for applications, please read this if you are considering applying for 2026, and be aware that this is subject to change, so keep checking back.  

We advise you to also read our policy on life events.  

Your career stage 

For Mentees: 

You must be either: 

  • An MD, within 12 years of your date of graduation 
  • A PhD/PharmD, within 10 years of your date of graduation or specialization (e.g. hematology, internal medicine) 

For Mentors 

You must have been an established principal investigator (PI) for at least two years. 

Your location and research field 

  • Both mentees and mentors must work in a European institute. 
  • Your nationality does not have to be European. 
  • Mentorship pairs cannot be from the same institute. 
  • Mentorship pairs can work in the same country. 
  • Mentorship pairs cannot be in the same research field.

Membership requirement 

Both mentee and mentor must be active, paying members of EHA upon application and for the duration of the program. 

Other restrictions 

Mentees cannot: 

  • Be part of a current EHA Research Training program 
  • Have participated in an EHA Research Training program in the past two years 
  • Apply for an EHA Congress travel grant while part of the EHA Mentorship Program 
  • Be a mentor at the same time
