Program overview
Program goals
Our Mentorship Program aims to:
- Provide the early and mid-career European hematology community with access to mentorship that’s relevant to their career stage
- Expose hematologists and researchers from less professionally mobile backgrounds to career mentorship and best practices from other countries
- Enhance the culture of mentoring within the European hematology community
- Promote a multi-level mentorship structure, allowing early career to mid-career and mid-career to senior-level mentorship
Program outline
The program is based on an application system, with separate calls for mentors and mentees. The review, selection, and pairing are done by our Mentorship subgroup. We have a maximum of 50 pairings.
The program lasts for 12 months and consists of:
- One mandatory training session, to be attended by both mentees and mentors
- A minimum of four 1-hour meetings at approximately equal intervals (e.g. every three months)
Of the four meetings, one is held in person at the EHA Congress and the others are online. We facilitate these meetings.
Further meetings may be organized by any pair independently during the year, to achieve their mentoring goals.
Participation expenses
Participation is free.
For the mandatory in-person meeting at the EHA Congress, we will offer the following for those unable to cover the cost themselves:
- Complimentary registration for the whole EHA Congress
- A stipend for travel (economy class)
- Up to two nights’ accommodation costs
Individual needs will be assessed during the application process and will have no impact on the selection process itself.
Surveys
All program participants must complete two surveys to assess the quality of the matching/pairing, and to evaluate the program as a whole.
The results are used to further improve the matching and program.
Program completion certificate
Once you have completed the program, you will receive a (digital) certificate.
