How to apply

Applications for our 2025 progam have closed. For reference only, these are the steps you need to take when a call is open

Your EHA Portal account

To apply, either as a mentor or a mentee, you must be registered on the EHA Portal.

You do not need to create a new EHA Portal account if you’ve:

  • Received an EHA Research Grant in the past five years
  • Applied for any other EHA opportunity through the EHA Portal

If you already have an EHA Portal account

You can either:

  • Log in using your existing credentials
  • Select ‘Reset or create password’ if you cannot remember your details
  • When you log in, make sure you use the email address that EHA has on file.

If you do not have an EHA Portal account

Go to the EHA Portal and follow the steps under the ‘Create your user profile’ heading.

Please keep in mind that, once you register, it may take up to two business days before your registration is processed and you get access to the system.

Registrations are approved from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00, Amsterdam time.

If you submit your application after the deadline date due to a late EHA Portal registration, it will not be considered.

If you need help with EHA Portal

If you experience issues with registration or accessing your account, please email us at ehamentorship@ehaweb.org.

Applying to be a mentor

If you’re applying to be a mentor, you must provide a:

  • CV (no more than two pages long) that lists relevant:
  • Publications
  • Education and employment
  • Experience and professional memberships
  • Brief list of up to five soft skills that you have expertise in/can mentor in
  • Motivation statement of no more than 500 words
  • Three-sentence introduction of yourself
  • Headshot, to be used for ‘preference indication’ by mentees, in JPG or PNG format

Applying to be a mentee

If you’re applying to be a mentee, you must provide:

  • A CV (no more than two pages long)
  • A motivation statement (no more than 500 words)
  • A statement about the sort of mentorship you require (no more than 500 words)
  • Information on up to five soft skills you’d like to be mentored in (chosen from a drop-down list)

You must also share your mentor preferences. To do this, visit our program mentors page and note down the names of three to five mentors you think would be suitable. You’ll be asked to provide the names of these mentors, in order of preference, when you submit your application.

If you have mentors in mind who are not on our list, you can add up to two suggestions.
