Fellowships and Grants Committee call for interest

The Fellowships and Grants Committee is responsible for assigning EHA funding to talented researchers.

This year, we are looking for two new committee members. We especially encourage eligible hematology researchers from countries not currently represented on the committee to apply. You can view the current members on the main Fellowships and Grants Committee page.

Roles

  • Vacancy 1 is for a hematology researcher (fundamental/basic or translational research) specializing in pediatric/developmental hematology research.
  • Vacancy 2 is for a hematology researcher (fundamental/basic or translational research) specializing in bioinformatics with active research in hematopoiesis and hematopoietic stem cells.

In all cases, you must:

  • Be an established group leader
  • Have had success in securing research funding
  • Be enthusiastic about supporting hematology research in Europe
  • Have mentoring experience (and a demonstrable track record as mentor)

Workload

The majority of the workload for the committee is centered around:

  • The review and selection of grant winners
  • The review of progress reports

Timeline for selection of grant winners

  • September-October: Kick-Off Grant application review.
  • November: Three-hour conference call to select Kick-Off Grant winners.
  • November-January: Research Grant and Bilateral Collaborative Grant application preliminary review.
  • February: Three-hour video conference call to shortlist Research Grant applications for external review.
  • February: Three-hour video conference call to shortlist Bilateral Collaborative Grant applications for external review.
  • February-March: Innovation Grant application review.
  • Mid-April: Evaluation of external review feedback for over 40 applications.
  • April: Three-hour conference call to shortlist Research Grant candidates for interviews.
  • April: Three-hour conference call to select Bilateral Collaborative Grant and Innovation Grant winners.
  • Mid-May: Three-day in-person attendance of the interview meeting at the EHA office in The Hague.

Review of grantee reports

These are reviewed throughout the year. On average, you will review one final report per month.

Appointment period

The appointment will last for three years, in the first instance.
