Call for interest — new La Cantera event
The call for interest is closed at 23:59 on November 30, 2024.
In 2025, EHA will provide funding for a new La Cantera coaching event. This will be in addition to the annual La Cantera event held by the EHA Lymphoma Group and the Fondazione Italiana sui Linfomi (FIL).
How to apply
Applications must be submitted:
- By the SWG's Chair or Vice-Chair
- Using the Word application form
Information you'll need to provide
When you complete the application form, you'll need to share details of a:
- Proponent (SWG Chair or Vice-Chair) who will be committed to developing the activity to stimulate research
- Relevant research topic in the specific area
- Draft program addressing clinical research and how to achieve excellence in trial design and execution, in line with the proposed topic
- Coach identified as a world-class leader in clinical research, who must also be a good communicator/medical educator
You'll also need to commit your SWG to supporting the event, promoting it, and following up with the trainees one year after it.

How we'll assess applications
EHA's SWG Committee will assess all applications by December 31, 2024.
They'll evaluate the applications based on:
- Relevance to hematology, novelty, and current trends
- Engagement, scientific, and educational value
- Interest in the topic for sponsors, to support further clinical trials
We'll publish the SWG Committee's decision on this webpage.
What happens next
Once the SWG Committee has selected the successful applicant, the EHA Office will reach out to that SWG about organizing the La Cantera event. This event should be held between September and November 2025.
SWG responsibilities
The successful SWG will be responsible for:
- Promoting the activity inside the professional network
- Selecting participants
- Developing the final program
- Engaging coaches and participants
Appointment of a faculty
The SWG is also responsible for appointing the faculty that will evaluate the trainees' projects. This can consist of up to nine people, including:
- Seven SWG Steering Committee members (with a Young EHA representative)
- A national society representative
- A coach or coaches
Reporting
The SWG Chair or Vice-Chair will submit a:
- Full scientific report on the activity within one month of the event's conclusion (which will also be shared via EHA's channels)
- Final report, outlining out how the SWG followed up with participants, within one year of the event
EHA Office responsibilities
The EHA Office will be responsible for:
- Financial support
- Organizing event logistics and registration
- Promotion on EHA channels
- Engaging with sponsors
