EHA Lifetime Achievement Award
The EHA Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded for an extraordinary lifetime contribution to the field of hematology.
The nominated person must have:
- Made a valuable contribution to the field of hematology over at least a 20-year period
- Shown dedication to their work and commitment to furthering the field of hematology
- Been responsible for pioneering and innovative work in their field
This award was formerly known as the Jean Bernard Lifetime Achievement Award.
2026 winner
The 2026 winner of the EHA Lifetime Achievement Award is Prof Claire Harrison (United Kingdom).
Prof Harrison exemplifies excellence through her prolific academic output, leadership in clinical trials, and charitable work as co-founder of MPN Voice and MPN Advocates Network. Trained at Oxford and leading UK hospitals, she has published over 300 papers in top journals and earned prestigious awards, including a Dunhill Medical Fellowship, NIHR Clinical Researcher of the Year, National Clinical Innovation award in 2009 and the British Society of Haematology Medal in 2023. Prof Harrison is also a trustee for Blood Cancer UK, the leading charitable funder of blood cancer research. Despite her achievements, she remains approachable, deeply patient-focused, and an inspiring mentor who has shaped a generation of clinicians while keeping patients at the heart of her work.
