Overview

The EHA Topics in Focus Preceptorship will focus on:

  • Cutting-edge diagnostic technologies and methodologies
  • Design of precision-clinical trials
  • Integration of precision hematology in clinical practice

Special attention will be given to:

  • Functional, proteomics and genomics diagnostic tools as a pillar for personalized approaches
  • Bioinformatics  in precision medicine
  • Regulation and structure of clinical trials incorporating personalized treatments
  • The role of the precision tumor board in clinical practice

Program

The comprehensive meeting Program will include key lectures, as well as hands-on workshops and lab tours covering:

  • Emerging technologies in functional precision medicine, genomics, and proteomics for patient stratification and response prediction
  • Overview of precision trials incorporating personalized treatments and in vitro diagnostic regulation
  • Designing and starting an investigator-initiated trial (IIT)
  • The role of the precision tumor board in optimizing treatment selection
  • Workshops dedicated to:
    • Bioinformatics for new omics in precision medicine
    • I design my favorite IIT
    • Mock tumor board with real scholar cases
    • Challenges to the adoption of precision hematology in clinical practice
  • Lab Tour: exploring functional precision medicine, proteomics, and genomics.

Learning objectives

After attending this meeting, participants will be able to:

  • Acquire knowledge and practical skills in cutting-edge diagnostic technologies
  • Know how to design a clinical trial incorporating personalized treatment and how to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Discuss the role of the precision tumor board in personalized medicine and apply its principles to clinical cases

The Preceptorship will be accredited by the EBAH system. Participants of this Preceptorship are eligible to receive one Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit point for every hour of accredited activity from the EBAH system.

After the preceptorship meeting, you will have the opportunity to apply for a TiF mobility grant and receive a 3-month scholarship in Homburg, Germany to deepen your knowledge in precision hematology on Saarland University campus.
