Verena Petzer
Since February 2025, Dr Verena Petzer has been a specialist in internal medicine for hematology and oncology at the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria.
She completed her PhD in November 2022 as part of the PhD program in 'Infectious diseases — molecular mechanisms.'
Since April 2024, she has represented the Young Hematologists & Oncologists Group Austria (YHOGA).
Her research focuses on:
- Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
- Clonal hematopoiesis
- VEXAS syndrome
- Infectious diseases and their prevention in hematology and oncology
- Iron metabolism
Learning objectives for the webinar
- List the current vaccination recommendations for adult patients undergoing chemotherapy (e.g. ASCO guideline).
- Educate patients about the timing and benefits of vaccination. What evidence do we have?
