Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in the heart of The Hague (Netherlands) is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy.


Hematology is constantly changing and evolving. We help our members stay up to date by delivering a structured educational program, created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels.

We are looking for an analytical

Data Manager

fulltime (40 hours)

In this role you will be overseeing the development and use of data systems in the EHA organization. Your primary objective is to ensure effective data management, formulate techniques for quality data collection, devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis, establish data sharing rules, and support staff members in the daily use of the data systems within EHA. The data manager is also responsible as a backup for the daily IT (support) activities within the EHA organization. This includes supporting EHA staff regarding IT issues.

You will formally report to the Head of Operations and will be part of the Operations team that consists of the departments; Finance, IT, Legal, and Office Management.

Your responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining data quality, compliance with data policies, and resolving data-related issues.
  • Develop and implement data management policies, procedures and standards.
  • Define data requirements, authorize access, and make decisions about data usage.
  • Analyze data, extract insights, and create reports.
  • Assess data quality, completeness and consistency.
  • Implement access controls, encryption, and privacy measures.
  • Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and lineage information.
  • Backup for the daily IT (support) activities within the EHA organization.
  • Providing assistance with hardware and software issues, troubleshooting problems, and resolving technical issues for end-users.
  • Offering excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, providing solutions, and ensuring user satisfaction.
  • Performing regular maintenance on systems and networks to prevent issues and ensure optimal performance.
  • Educating users on best practices, new technologies, and how to use systems effectively.

Your profile:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree in Information Technology, Data science, Computer science.
  • A minimum of 3+ year work experience as data manager or in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of IT, data analysis, database technologies.
  • Experience in using CRM systems and/or data systems.
  • Advanced MS skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Project and data management skills.
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English (in writing and oral).
  • You are a trusted, collaborative, effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Living in the Netherlands (for non-European nationals, being in possession of a valid work permit is required).
