Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in The Hague (Netherlands), is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, publications and advocacy.


Hematology is constantly changing and evolving. We help our members stay up to date by delivering a structured educational program, created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels.


One important pillar of the EHA strategy is the annual EHA Congress. Attracting over thousands of researchers, clinicians, and other stakeholders active in the field of hematology. The EHA Congress is the premier hematology event in Europe and a major meeting and connection point for the broader hematology community.

Event / Project Manager Congress (ZZP)

As a key member of the EHA Connect team, you will play a pivotal role in organizing a variety of deliverables of the EHA Annual Congress. You take care of the administration and execution of various aspects linked to Congress logistics, platform, promotion, onsite delivery, and post-Congress follow-up.


The Project Manager reports on a day-to-day basis to the Senior Project Manager Congress. You ultimately report to the Head of Department.

Your responsibilities:

  • Event management:Coordination, planification and management of projects/parts of the Annual Congress
    • First point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding the preparation of the Annual Congress.
    • Accountable for the preparation, logistics, implantation and budget/expenditure of parts of the Annual Congress.
    • Monitor schedule and progress of projects, identify bottlenecks, and ensure seamless coordination.
  • Administration and information management
    • Databases: collects, interprets and processes high quality data
    • Develops SOPs and monitors processes for the administrative organization, identifies bottlenecks and makes suggestions for improvement.
    • Create reports (for management, stakeholders, members): prepares and presents relative results and data.
  • Relationship Management
    • Strengthens and/or establishes new relationships with official suppliers and stakeholders; uses these partnerships to achieve excellence in projects, activities and meetings production.
    • Represents EHA and EHA values at relevant meetings and networks.

Your profile:

  • •Bachelor degree or higher
  • At least 5 years event management experience
  • Having knowledge of MICE industry
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English (in writing and oral)
  • Stakeholder management; being able to challenge the thinking of senior experts
  • Ability to develop and coordinate various priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, collaborate and build relationships with all stakeholders
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
  • Eye for detail
  • Living in the Netherlands (for non-European nationals, being in possession of a valid work permit is required)
  • Ability to travel outside the Netherlands on a regular basis (mostly within Europe)

What we offer:

  • A freelance/ZZP contract from July/Aug 2024 – July 2025
  • 32 - 40 hours per week
